In red painted frames (2)The works presented here are details from a series of lunettes depicting views of the Medici Villas which were commissioned by the Grand Duke Ferdinando I de 'Medici' circa 1599-1602. The original pictures are in the Villa Petraia, Florence. Condition Report: There is a horizontal and vertical line of holes running through the centre of each canvas where they would have previously been pinned to the stretcher. Numerous areas of flaking and paint loss, and surface cracking to each canvas. A layer of dirt and discoloured vanish also present to each work. Inspection under UV reveals no visible sign of restoration or repair.The frames painted but with numerous scuffs and abrasions. Condition Report Disclaimer
