1879-CC $1 MS62 NGC. VAM-4. Ex: Tahoe Tavern Casino Collection. The right C in the mintmark is repunched. The 1879-CC is the rarest Morgan dollar issue from the first coinage era (1870-1885) of the Carson City facility. The mintage is multiples of the 1881-CC and 1885-CC, but the latter two issues emerged from the GSA hoard in far greater numbers than the 1879-CC. The present brilliant and well-struck example exhibits blatant white-on-black contrast, though it has not been designated as Prooflike by NGC. The obverse displays marks consistent with the MS62 grade.
