Proof Seated Dollars
1840 $1 -- Stained -- PCGS Genuine. Proof, Unc Details. OC-P1, Low R.7. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/a. The first-year Seated dollar is a formidable rarity in proof format. Four die pairs are confirmed, and Osburn-Cushing estimate a combined 26 survivors, with just 12 survivors from OC-1 dies. This is a sharply struck specimen with minor reverse marks and a hint of struck-in grease on the first T in STATES. The obverse margin near stars 2 to 4 displays moderate hairlines beneath an area of deep lavender toning. The remainder of the coin is lilac and olive-green overall with cobalt-blue shades on the reverse border.
