1921-D 50C MS64+ PCGS. The 1921-D boasts the lowest mintage among the three keys of this date. It is still not quite as scarce in high grade as the 1921-S, but examples are inherently difficult to find above MS64. For most collectors, a Gem or better coin is far out of reach.
This Plus-designated piece displays satiny luster with light russet toning and a few auburn daubs around the borders. Liberty's branch hand exhibits slight strike softness as usual, but the definition overall is pleasing for the issue. A loupe fails to reveal mentionable abrasions. PCGS reports 42 numerically finer submissions (6/23).
