AN EARLY WORCESTER BLUE AND WHITE OCTAGONAL SECTION TEAPOT AND COVER

AN EARLY WORCESTER BLUE AND WHITE OCTAGONAL SECTION TEAPOT AND COVER CIRCA 1754-58 Painted with a version of the so-called 'Captive Bird' pattern, workmen's mark, paper collection label, 12.5cm highCf. Branyan, French & Sandon; Worcester Blue and White Porcelain (1990), p. 88 I.A.33.Provenance: The Leonard Fuller Collection. Condition Report: No serious damage or restoration noted, however, there is a 2cm long firing tear to the body that can be seen to the interior well (does not extend to the foot). Some dirt to the interior, much of which will come off with a nail. Minute chip to the interior rim of the cover and a few other minute nibbles. This collection was put together in the late 19th century so much of the potential modern sophisticated restoration that potential purchasers are looking for is unlikely to be found as the collection has not been moved and for the most part looked after. Such restoration as does exist within the collection is very old and consequently yellowed and of a poor quality. There are no recent purchases within the Fuller collection likely to have received the attentions of a modern restoration studio. The cover is a loose fit and is of the right type, slightly darker blue that the pot and the fan panels within the border slightly differ from the neck border of the pot. This can be seen in main photograph. Please satisfy yourself before bidding that you are happy the cover is not just a very good match but the right one. Please see supporting images available upon request.Condition Report Disclaimer
