A rare matchlock arquebus


dating: Late 16th Century provenance: Germany or Italy, Octagonal, smoothbore, 16,5 mm cal barrel, provided with tubular sight with the back carved as a stylized face, nozzle with foresight. Squared pan complete with revolving pan cover and spark arrester. Lock with thin, flat plate with remains of marks, serpentine with shell-shaped base, curved grip, moulded clamp and complete with wing screw. Working mechanism. Squared handle. Butt made of antique wood, well preserved; the right side with small restored blocks at the borders, the left one with a bigger block. Simple, wooden ramrod. length 126,7 cm.
