1802 NC-1 R5+ Fine-12 PCGS. Mostly smooth but there are a couple patches of fine corrosion on the obverse: one at the bust tip and another near the dentils left of the hair ribbon. No verdigris or significant contact marks. Glossy steel brown and chocolate with lighter brown in protected areas on the reverse. LDS, Breen state IV, with a bisecting die crack on the obverse. The date and legends are complete and clear. Graded F12 net VG8 and tied for CC#9 in the Noyes census, his photo #28435. This cataloger's EAC grade is net VG8. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. 36335.12/47249986.

The name of George Korsing appears in the provenance of several early cents including this 1802 NC-1. His name appeared in the May 1972 issue of Penny-Wise as a new member of Early American Coppers. That issue placed his residence in Flushing, New York. Korsing was a frequent advertiser in Coin World during the early 1970s. Sources including Ancestry.com suggest that Korsing was born on February 24, 1941, and that he died on April 10, 2008.
