The 1893 Philadelphia issue is not quite as elusive as its branch mint counterparts, although examples are still challenging in Gem condition, and no Prooflike or Deep Mirror Prooflike coins are reported this fine. In fact, reflective examples of the 1893 are rare in any grade, and those that do exist tend to lack stark contrast. This Plus-designated Gem example represents some of the finest quality typically seen for the date, as only a handful of higher-grade pieces are known. Brilliant, satiny cartwheel luster complements the exceptional preservation of the prime focal areas. Central strike sharpness is excellent. Population: 42 in 65+, 9 finer (7/23).
