A landmark in Melville's resurgence, in immaculate condition. This set contains the first printing of 'Billy Budd' and 9 sketches. Furthermore, it contains the first publication in book form of 10 other short stories and sketches. Billy Budd was left unfinished by Melville, the manuscript being later found in a cake tin by biographer Raymond Weaver.
