An o-wakizashi in koshirae, mei: Sadayuki


dating: Period (1603-1867) provenance: Japan, Rare and interesting shobu-zukuri blade, o-kissaki (nagasa 53 cm.), some defects. Hamon: suguha, hardly visible. Nakago mei: Hoshu Takada Ju Sadayuki. A mekugi-ana. Period: Keicho Shinto. With nice late koshirae of the late Edo period, in good condition. Gilded and silver--plated copper habaki. Mokko-shaped iron tsuba in beautiful antique brown patina with effigies of some characters in relief featuring remains of gilding. Fuchi-kashira in copper-coloured metal shakudo type with remains of finishing and granular background of the nanako type. Relieved shishi lions and floral decorations on both parts. The menuki en suite, with pairs of shishi in relief, one golden figure, the other browned. Ancient tsuka and tsuka-ito. The brown saya streaked with (finishing with some small missing parts). Silver kojiri with long cusped bands. The signed kogatana, with copper-coloured metal kozuka decorated with effigies of galloping wild horses at the front. length 72 cm.
