Footnotes: As part of the French Revolutionary wars, The Battle of the Nile took place in 1798 between the British Navy and the French Republic. It proved to be an important encounter that saw the British fleet, under the command of Horatio Nelson, sail to victory and inhibit French control over Egypt.
