PHILIPPINES. Philippines - Peru. 8 Reales, 1828. Ferdinand VII. NGC VG Details--Holed.
KM-24; Basso-35; PNM#6-14; PNM#16-27; Cacho-Type I CS-013. Issued by decree of October 13, 1828. Type I Manila overstrike, with serrated boarders and reverse legend; dies prepared by Don Benito de los Reyes. Overstruck on an 1827-LIMAEJM Peru 8 Reales. Typical crude manufacture with a somewhat flat uneven strike leaving much of the original host coin visible. The central arms of Spain on the reverse are quite bold and evenly worn while "Manila" is quite weak missing small portions of the letters. The details designation of "Hole" is due to being pierced just to the right at 12 near the rim of the obverse, but other issue such as earthen deposits and surface porosity are present mentioned for accuracy. Despite its shortcomings a presentable and affordable example great for the beginner to intermediate collector on a budget looking to add depth to their collection.

Estimate: $400.00- $600.00
