She is portrayed in her right profile, with a distinctive aquiline nose, wavy hair, and large eyes. The intaglio is set in a possibly later gold ring of a round hoop with expanding shoulders, featuring a faceted profile. Julia Domna was the second wife of the Roman Emperor Septimius Severus, and she was known for her intelligence, beauty, and wit.
