INDONESIA. Bank Indonesia. 5000 Rupiah, 1985. P-Unlisted. Printer's Essay.
A unique pair of printer's models of an unadopted design in a presentation album by Peruri. Obverse: red-brown and multicolour, Garuda at upper centre, portrait of I Gusti Ngurah Rai (1917-46) at left. Ngurah Rai is considered a national hero for commanding Indonesian forces in Bali against the Dutch during the Indonesian War of Independence and was killed in the Battle of Margarana. Reverse: brown, Danau Bedugul in Bali at centre. Also accompanying the essays is a photo of the Minaret of Kudus Mosque, built in 1549 and is one of the first mosques in Indonesia. This image was used on the reverse of the final design. A beautifully hand drawn and unique essay enclosed in a handsome official presentation folder. An enticing and alluring item.

Estimate: $1200 - $1800
