CONSTANTIUS III, A.D. 421. AV Solidus (4.42 gms), Ravenna Mint. NGC AU, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 2/5. Wavy Flan.
RIC-1325; Depeyrot-7/4. Obverse: Rosette-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right; Reverse: Constantius, with head right, standing facing, holding labarum and crowning victoriola, and with foot on captive to lower right; R-V//COMOB. A VERY RARE and desirable type from a ruler whose reign lasted just seven months, this specimen does exhibit some scattered marks, but nevertheless retains great brilliance and offers an engaging olive-yellow hue to the gold.
