Qing Dynasty. Hsüan-t'ung Shanxi Jingbao ("Mirror") Sycee of 50 Taels Year 2 (1910) Certified AU53 by Gong Bo Grading, Cribb-Class I.D.15. 110.5x74.5mm. 1833.3gm. Stamped in four sections, reading "Xuan Tong Er Nien" (The 2nd Year of Hsüan-t'ung), "Yu Long Hao" (Yulong Bank), "Shi Zu" (Pure), and "Wen Yin" (Fine Silver). An immense representative of this early 20th century type, whose impressive presence is immediately recognized when inspected in-hand. Broadcasting clearly legible stamps and an attractive silty patina embellished with a touch of champagne tone, the piece presents itself as a fine offering for the Sycee specialist.
