‡ A PAIR OF 22 BORE FLEMISH FLINTLOCK RIFLED OFFICER~S PISTOLS SIGNED LE PAGE ET FILS, BRUXELLES, CIRCA 1820 with browned twist swamped polygroove rifled barrels fitted with silver fore-sights, the flats bordered by a slender silver line and struck with Liège proof mark and the gold-lined barrelsmith~s mark at the breeches (Neue Støckel 182 or 187, rubbed), border-engraved tangs decorated with a conventional flower, signed blued bevelled locks fitted with cocks decorated en suite with the tangs, semi-rainproof pans, steel springs with rollers and detents, set triggers, full stocks carved in low relief with foliage about the tangs and mounts, fitted with finely punched gilt-brass beadwork slender plaques bordering the fore-ends (one missing), locks, tangs, over the butts and in place of side-plates, chequered grips, gilt-brass mounts cast with a matching design of fine beadwork, comprising trigger-guards formed of a series of rondels, set with a central blued steel panel chiselled in imitation of brilliants, cup-shaped pommel caps set with a further chiselled steel rondel, openwork ramrods, and original steel ramrod with gilt-brass tips 23.0 cm; 9 in Provenance Sotheby Parke Bernet, Zurich, 25th November 1980, lot 125
