An Boulle Style Console Clock, France, Paris, Mid 18th Century


The clock with a round face decorated with scrolls in relief and with large, enamel painted, Roman numerals. Housed in a rectangular case with a curved top with a hinged, glass door and sides. The door fronted by a sculpted depiction of Helios. The case decorated throughout with green tortoiseshell veneer and the corners and finials mounted with ormolu designed as scrolls. Raised on four scroll shaped supports and topped by a figural depiction of leaves. Mechanism signed "Targe, Paris". 78 x 40 x 17 cm
