A REGENCY CAST IRON FIRE GRATE IN THE EGYPTIAN CLASSICAL TASTE, FIRST HALF 19TH CENTURYWith triangular backplate with fan lunette corners above basket, flanked by pyramidal topped sides, on Egyptian wing capped acroteria mounted uprights with paw feet 65cm high, 96.5cm wide, 35.5cm deep Most typically such fire grates are ascribed in design to George Bullock. Whilst the Tew Park auction and his drawings for a 'Plan of stove in dining Room and Oak Study' do bear close comparison- the Egyptianesque detailing to this example suggests that other designers may have drawn on the Tomb of Agrippa in the Pantheon in Rome for their inspiration and incorporated elements as popularised by "Description de l'Égypte" (Publ. 1878-1801).Condition Report: Generally good- wear from use and cleaned and reblacked condition - internal side plate to its left hand side slightly buckledCondition Report Disclaimer
