Confederation gold Essai "Luzern" Unze (1 oz) 1988 MS69 NGC, cf. KM-XMB25a (there in Proof, not Essai), Richter-Unl. A very scarce Essai type mirroring the design of the Proof issue of the same year that was struck without "ESSAI" to the lower reverse. Though we are not aware of the mintage for this non-Proof Essai, it is only the second example that we have been able to locate, thus representing an unusually fleeting opportunity. Nearly perfectly preserved and tied for the finest seen by NGC to date with three other examples.
