CHINA. Guangxi Piaoding. Provincial Certified Ingots. 10 Tael Bank

CHINA. Guangxi Piaoding. Provincial Certified Ingots. 10 Tael Bank Ingot, ND. Graded "AU-58" by GBCA.
cf. BMC-Class XL (for style of manufacture); cf.Zhang-pg. 237 (for inscription only). Weight: 355.5 gms. "Wu Zhou Fu" (Wuzhou county). The stamp is boldly applied with good definition of the characters and minor earthen deposits amongst the devices. An attractive well preserved example with lovely light grey patina. It is interesting to note that this type of ingot appears to have been produced in multiple provinces in an identical fashion, namely those of Szechuan, Kwangsi and Chekiang. When these types were poured into their moulds they were placed level and the crucible used to smelt the silver was pushed into the surface of the cooling metal. This process caused the metal to flow up between the crucible and the mould creating the high upset rims. Once ready to remove the crucible excess metal stuck to the bottom would create the nipple.

Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
