Royal Marine Interest: A mid19th Century needlework (embroidery) panel laid on board depicting the frigate HMS Black Prince, signed to base: SAMUEL DUDLEY HIS WORK H*M*S*B PRINCE 1862, the panel 29 x 43cm, framed together with two loose Military Documents: no: 6394 Parchment Certificate for Royal Marine Artillery recording his enlistment on 29th October 1859 and detailing his discharge on 12th November 1880 - also is Military record within the Royal Marines detailing Ships including Black Prince that he served on, dates thereof, and character and ability - the lot also includes a later oil on panel portrait of Samuel Dudley as an elderly Gentleman, 33 x 28cm (4) Note: the needlework panel was executed when (Gunner) Samuel Dudley (b. 29 October 1841. Titchmarsh Northamptonshire) was 21 years old, he joined the Royal Marine Artillery on 29th October 1859, he was discharged in 1880 after completing 21 years of service: Provenance: Samuel Dudley thence by descent
